Our Essential Guatemala Itinerary
Your journey starts in Guatemala City: a culturally diverse and bustling urban center filled with museums, striking architectural landmarks, a variety of hotels, and amazing cuisine at every turn.
Guatemala City is the ideal place to get acquainted with the culture and atmosphere in before exploring the country’s more rural locations.
After a three to four-hour ride winding through peaceful plains and sleepy towns, your Guatemala itinerary brings you to Chichicastenango where you’ll find some of the largest handicraft markets in the region. Stroll through vegetable and craft stands. Absorb the cultural fusion of the Spaniard Catholic Church and indigenous Mayan heritage. Take it all in!
From there, you’re off to Lake Atitlan – “the most beautiful lake in the world.”
As you explore some of the twelve quaint villages and admire three dormant volcanoes, you'll see why! During your stay in Lake Atitlan, a boat will take you to an indigenous village to visit a loom weaving collective and live art gallery.
It’s hard to beat the oneness with nature here.
Wrap up your Essential Guatemala Itinerary with a coffee tour in the charming town of Antigua: A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through its colonial architecture, historical churches, mysterious ruins, and cobblestone streets.
Don’t let the laid-back atmosphere fool you: Antigua is a paradise for fine dining and exciting nightlife.
